Calendar 2007

The rest of 2006, and into 2007 will be the usual combination of ordinary (for us) and unusual. We'll end 2006 with a driving trip to Florida: Thanksgiving all by ourselves; later the Hornbachs will come join us (fair; it's their house after all) and Scott's parents as well. Christmas will be a dual family affair. That where "normalcy" ends.
MV discovery
In mid-November '06, we drove to the Florida Keys, taking Amtrak's expensive-but-handy AutoTrain; it cuts about 900 miles off the trip, and we paid for it using Continental frequent flyer miles. MV discovery In December '06, we re-joined MV Discovery, on a short cruise from Barcelona to Barbados. We went as Computer Lecturers, so the cruise was complementary. Only two ports of call (only one actually interesting -- Madeira) plus some nice "sea time".
Karenni

On the traditional date (January 21) we're off to Thailand (yawn... again?). This time's a little different: we'll be in Mae Hong Son (in the far north, by the border with Burma/Myanmar), documenting the work of the Jesuit Refugee Service there. Here's a summary of their efforts in the region.

Oops! This ended up as "Kathy flies from Fort Lauderdale, Scott drives 1700 miles home by himself." Why?

Kathy's back in Florida to convalesce, Scott's in Thailand but will do other stuff than the Jesuits': a short week hanging out in Bangkok, culinary classes in Chiang Mai, diving in Burma. About a month in total.
