Visit Scott's brother and his wife in Vancouver, WA. We brought, and Scott prepared dinner there. They're probably still eating the leftovers...
Visits to friends of Scott's in Santa Barbara and Scott's Valley CA, and a couple of Kathy's school mates in San Francisco, and around Palo Alto, CA. Some time spent wandering around San Francisco too -- an old haunt of Scott's, and go together with university-friends from Waterloo, relocated in California
Driving the Pacific Coast Higway, visiting Pt Lobos park, Crescent City CA, Redwood National Forest, Mendocino, Joshua Tree National Forest, Big Sur,
After a nice get-tegether with Rick Willer between Phoenix and Tucson, we spent about 4 hours driving over a 20 mile mountain pass on an "unmaintained" park road (yes, it was as "rustic" as you might imagine)
Checking out the real estate market in Tucson (and some excellent dining there, too)
Two long days of driving, from Tucson to east Texas ("Van Horn") then there to Austin -- more good eats and house-hunting. Kathy ended up giving a free "Financial Independence" seminar to our young potential-Real Estate Agents. Seemed like the logical thing to do at the time.
Onward to Dallas (fetch our SCUBA gear, waiting at friends'), Sherman TX (Kathy's cousin Rick Simpson), two long days driving to Grand Rapids, a foray to Ann Arbor for a U of Michigan football game.
East! Stopping in Toronto for a reunion with our Vancouver -> Cologne -> Toronto friends
