Pig Well, let's start at the end.  I'm just back from 3 months in Northern Thailand. I studied Thai language a couple hours a day, and volunteered at Heifer International Thailand (I'm doing their website, it's a work in progress...) doing their IT and Communications stuff.  I can actually read Thai language (although it takes an inordinate amount of time). No mean feat: be nice to me or I'll explain it to you.

Philanthropy is quite a change from high tech. It's so different. I'm genuinely fond of the people I've worked with as Cascade... Astral — but the Heifer folks — well, their business is caring about the less fortunate. It doesn't pay well, at least financially.
